Capo Testa – Where the earth turns into Pure Magic
At the northernmost tip of Sardinia, just a few minutes from Santa Teresa Gallura, lies Capo Testa, one of the island’s most fascinating natural wonders. This rugged peninsula feels like an open-air sculpture park, where wind and sea have shaped the granite rocks into surreal forms that change color with the light of the day.
Photographers, hikers, and dreamers love Capo Testa for its mystical atmosphere, hidden coves, and panoramic views over the sea towards Corsica. It’s a place where nature, energy, and history meet — a truly magical corner of Northern Sardinia.
What makes Capo Testa so special
The granite rocks
The bizarre, wind-carved formations resemble animals, faces, or abstract art. Each step reveals a new shape — a playground for the imagination and a paradise for photographers.
Two different beaches
On one side you’ll find Rena di Ponente, a sheltered bay with turquoise water perfect for swimming and snorkeling. On the other side lies Rena di Levante, more exposed to the wind and loved by surfers and those who enjoy wilder nature.
The lighthouse and views of Corsica
At the very end of the road stands the Faro di Capo Testa, an iconic lighthouse with sweeping views across the sea to Corsica. On clear days, you can even spot the French coastline.
Spiritual energy
Many visitors describe Capo Testa as a place full of special energy and tranquility. For centuries it has been used for rituals and meditation — and even today, the silence and the wind give it a sacred feel.
Valle della Luna – The Valley of the Moon
Hidden between the rocks lies Valle della Luna, once home to hippies during the 1960s. You can still feel the sense of freedom, peace, and mystique that makes this place so unique.
Travel Tip
Visit Capo Testa in the late afternoon. Bring water and good walking shoes, and stay until sunset. The colors, the silence, and the view towards Corsica are simply unforgettable.
How to Get There
Capo Testa is just a 10-minute drive from Santa Teresa Gallura. Parking is free but limited, especially in high season — so it’s best to arrive early in the morning or just before sunset when the light is most beautiful.
